Yes! I heard Caine tell the story about how he chose his name on a talk show one time. From what I remember, he was in a phone booth talking to his agent, and his agent told him that he needed a new surname. From the booth, he could see the marquee of a movie theatre playing The Caine Mutiny, and all he could see of the title was Caine. So he chose it. I remember he also said that if the phone booth had been positioned differently, he would have been Michael Mutiny. Very funny! Also, I seem to remember that Huston was thinking of doing "The Man Who Would Be King" much earlier and was thinking of casting Bogie and Clark Gable. Of course, it didn't get made in time for either of the actors to be in it. Is that true, or did I dream it? XO,
